9 Indian Actors Who Left Their Successful TV Careers For Bollywood

Amar Upadhyay

He is well known for his role of Mihir Virani from the serial "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi". After playing this role he became a household name in India. Post seeing so much success in Television industry, he ventured into Bollywood with a film called 'Dhund – The Fog' and also appeared in 'LOC Kargil' in the same year 2003. But, all these films didn't do well at the box office.

Manish Paul

He is one of the most famous hosts on Indian Television, who made his debut in Bollywood with 'Micky Virus'. He was last seen in the movie 'Tere Bin Laden' but none of them worked out well at the box office. 

Karan Singh Grover

He is one of the most talked about Indian TV actor, popularly known for his TV serials such "Dill Mill Gayye" and "Qubool Hai". He has done four films so far, like Alone and Hate Story 3, but none of them were successful.

Eijaz Khan

He first appeared in "Kahiin To Hoga", after which he acted in various shows and became a successful Indian TV actor. While working in TV serials, he appeared in a few Bollywood movies also, such as Maine Dil Tujhko Diya, Zameen and Kuch Na Kaho in early 2000. In 2008, he decided to take a break from television for his Bollywood film 'Meerabai Not Out', but unfortunately, the movie didn't do well and he had to get back to television.

Gurmeet Choudhary

He rose to fame with his role of Lord Ram in TV series Ramayan (2008), after which he appeared in many reality TV shows like Pati, Patni Aur Woh, Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa and Nach Baliye. In 2015, he made his Bollywood debut with film "Khamoshiyan" but the movie was below average at box office. 

Jay Bhanushali

He is best known for his role of Neev Shergill in Ekta Kapoor's TV serial "Kayamath". In 2014, he made his Bollywood debut with the movie Hate Story 2 followed by Desi Kattey and Ek Paheli Leela. But none of his films were successful.

Rajeev Khandelwal

He is one of the most popular TV actors in the industry and is known for his show Left Right Left. But, he left the show as he wanted to venture into Bollywood. In 2008, his first movie 'Aamir' released and he got a lot of appreciation for his role. After this he appeared in a few more Bollywood projects such as Shaitan (2011), Soundtrack (2011), Table No.21 (2013) and Samrat & Co (2015).

Rannvijay Singh

He is popularly known as the first ever Roadie of India and is very much popular among girls. He tried his luck in Bollywood when his career was at the peak. He appeared in movies such as Toss: A Flip of Destiny, London dreams, and Action Replayy, but his movies didn't do well. He has done a few supporting roles since then but nothing major. Now, he is back as a Roadies judge.

Hansika Motwani

She is popularly known for her role in TV series such as Shaka Laka Boom Boom and Jis Desh Mai Nikla Hoga Chand. At the age of 16, she starred opposite Himesh Reshamiyya in Tera Surroor and her Bollywood career just went downhill from there. Nowadays, she is working down south and has established her career in South film industry.
