6 Bollywood Films Which Are Based on Popular Books

This was the first movie which was made from a book of very famous Indian writer Chetan Bhagat, "One Night At A Call Center". It had Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in the cameo role with Sharman Joshi, Sohail Khan, Gul Panag, Isha Koppikar, Amrita Arora and Sharat Saxena in the lead roles. It was released in 2008 but despite negative reviews from the critics, the film had a good opening.

3 Idiots

It is said that they took the basic plot from Chetan Bhagat’s book "Five Point Someone", but overall it was very different from the book. The film was released in 2009 and with the stars like Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi, Madhavan and Kareena Kapoor, the film became one of the highest-grossing movies of all time.

Haider

The film was an adaptation of William Shakespeare's book "Hamlet", which was released in 2014. It stars Shahid Kapoor, Tabu, Shraddha Kapoor and Kay Kay Menon in the lead roles. With amazing performance of Shahid Kapoor, the film became the first Indian film to win the People's Choice Award at the Rome Film Festival.

Kai Po Che

The film which gave us some talented actors like Sushant Singh Rajput, Rajkummar Rao and Amit Sadh, was based on Chetan Bhagat's novel "The 3 Mistakes of My Life". Although, the climax was completely different from the book but, it still managed to become one of the best movies of the year 2013.

2 States

Another film which was completely based on the novel of Chetan Bhagat of the same name. It was released in 2014 and became one of the best movies of the year with Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor in the lead role. 

Half-Girlfriend

After the success of 2 states, Chetan Bhagat turned into a producer. Now, he is all set with his new film which is again based on his novel, "Half-Girlfriend". It stars Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead role and will be releasing on 19 May 2017.
