‘Experts’ always have a lot to say about trend predictions for the coming year. They predict market fluctuations, currency movements, sartorial styles and pop culture trends and even food trends. Predictably, many trend predictions are made for 2016 as well; we look at some of these:

Fashion publication Elle predicts that a lot of Spanish influenced flounces will feature on ramps this year. Also we will see a lot of what is known as the paper bag waist featured above. Furthermore clothing and accessories made from suede will be big this year. As for the shoes, it is comfy flats, low heeled mules and other shoes with the accent on comfort that we will see more of. In bags, it is the half moon bag that is going to rule:

Bangs are back

Vogue predicts that there will be movement towards some more au naturel looks this year: the natural curl and even the big afro will likely return, bangs and neat braids will also make a comeback.

In 2016, suits will be more conservative: jackets will be a little looser, trousers will be a little longer and more roomy around the ankles. Trendy sportswear will continue to be a great pick for the gym and as casual wear. Sneakers will rule footwear trends for men and Nike’s weather proof sneaker-boot will be big this year.

As for men’s hair, it’s going to be longer this year – there will be more layering with perhaps a little more wave and the much reviled man-bun will die a natural and much desired death.
