The Amul Girl is someone who we’ve all grown up with. Be it social issues, political events, movie releases or tributes to icons, the Amul cartoons have always been hilarious, heart warming or poignant. As impressive as all Amul Hits are, a few have stayed in our hearts long after we saw them on their day of publication. With that in mind, here are five evergreen Amul cartoons that we absolutely love:

Tribute to the common man

The world lost one of the greatest creative visionaries of our time when R.K Laxman passed away on India’s 66th Republic Day in 2015. More than a year later, this heart warming tribute by Amul has still stayed with us.

Love-Bites

A vocal opponent of censorship, one of Amul’s most memorable cartoons was published in 1990 and was a comment on the controversial MR Coffee advertisement.

Response to the Peshawar attack

On 16th December 2014, one of the most devastating terrorist attacks of this decade occurred in Peshawar, with the Taliban butchering more than 140 children. While the national and international response to this strike was widespread, the Amul cartoon on it truly was heartbreaking.

Comment on Chennai Express

In its trademark humour and tongue in cheek way, Amul released a cartoon on Chennai Express, congratulating it for its box office numbers while also wondering how it achieved them in the first place.

Goodbye Genie

The world went into mourning when Robin Williams passed away in August, 2014. While social media was filled with tributes from one and all, it was Amul’s little tribute that truly tugged at our heartstrings.
