To marry or not to marry, that is the big question these days. It appears that the whole thing about ‘Shadi ka laddoo‘ is very true. So we decided to delve into the mind of the married.

1.  I’m married. I don’t need to care about how good or bad I look anymore.

I hate exercise. I had to stay fit (read: thin or presentable) to snare a life partner. That’s done! I’m married now so I can just let myself go (in every direction).

2. I’m married and so I don’t have to be attentive anymore

Not needed anymore

Not needed anymore

When I was courting them, I was very attentive. I’d wake up early on weekends and drive large distances just to spend a couple of hours with them. I’m married now so I can’t be bothered to ask them how they’ve been doing or what’s happening. If they have something to say, they’ll tell me. I’m right there.

3. I’m married so I’m not allowed to have fun anymore

I’m married so I have responsibilities, expectations to meet, weekend chores and other stuff, so a curfew is self imposed or spouse imposed or in-law-imposed, but it is imposed. Remember those crazy nights with my friends when I didn’t have to get home until I felt like it? They’re gone.

4. I’m married so I have to fight like there is no tomorrow

I’m married, so now I have someone to focus all my angst on. Everything wrong with my life is usually the other person’s fault, and there is no such thing as a discussion anymore it. It may start in different ways but it all turns into a screaming match.

5. I’m married so I’m no longer able to make spontaneous decisions

I’m married so I have to run all decisions by my spouse. If I do not then I will be called inconsiderate and rigid. If I do, then I will be told not to be so clingy and needy for every small thing. Either way, while I figure this puzzle out, the decision will have to wait.
