WHO recently announced that Rio De Janeiro is an affected zone of the Zika virus. Does that mean the Olympics need to be moved? Well, though it’s a strong thought, WHO has not really recommended it so far. But as far as the buzz goes, talks about moving Olympics to another country is already making rounds. But no matter which direction things move, here is what we think.

Zika is big, but so are the Rio Olympics

We all understand that the Zika virus is a big thing, but the Rio Olympics are equally important for sports fanatics around the world. Moving them to some other country will be the worst thing that could happen to all those who have been waiting for the real action to begin.

The situation can be controlled

Only pregnant women are at a high risk to the Zika virus and they can easily avoid coming to Rio as a precaution. Additionally, people can always use mosquito repellents and adequate clothes to save themselves from mosquito bites.

All preparations would get wasted

Another alternative could be to postpone the Olympics, rather than moving them to a different country altogether. At least this way the preparations done in Rio won’t be in vain.

It would bring a great movement to a standstill

As the Olympics belong to different countries and their people, moving them will bring a standstill to this movement of people and would further end up breaking a lot of hearts.

Rio deserves to host the Olympics

We all know how sports run in the veins of every Brazilian, and this is why Rio deserves to host the Olympics this year.
