The idea of extraterrestrial life is a fascinating one – one that answers the perplexing question, are we alone in the negative? The quest for intelligent life elsewhere in the universe has tantalised and vexed generations of thinkers, explorers, filmmakers and conspiracy theorists; who now have a delicious bit of news to sink their teeth into. We look at what the reports are saying about a UFO type object being spotted on Mars and the likelihood of authenticity of the reports.
Now try and digest this! Not just extraterrestrial life but an alien base on Mars! This is what a new theory claims. A man using Google Mars – software that permits people to look at the surface of the Red Planet claimed to have seen something very strange.
According to a video published by the YouTube channel SecureTeam10, what the man spotted was rather intriguing because the triangular shape of the half-buried object seemed indicative of some type of advanced secretive test spacecraft. This finding is believed to be an evidence of a crashed UFO on the surface of Mars.
According to the video, the triangular test craft is frequently noticed. However, governments have consistently denied the existence of such flying crafts; which are apparently made using antigravity technology obtained from actual spacecraft.
The narrator of the video is convinced that the triangular shaped object is proof of a crashed, partially buried UFO or spacecraft. Furthermore, the narrator also claims that such shapes have been repeatedly discovered on other desolate surfaces that are supposedly unable to sustain life; such as the moon.
Closeby to the triangular structure is this domed object with an unusual surface texture which is also ‘artificial’ – which does not seem to belong there. The video claims that such domes have been found repeatedly in other locations as well; which provides cover to existing bases.
SecureTeam10 and many other such groups and organisations assume that aliens not only exist but that they regularly make contact; and that there is evidence of this. These conspiracy theorists perceive that governments usually hide the existence of such alien beings, visitations of spacecraft and hidden bases.
People claim to have sighted UFOs of all sorts for centuries now. Conspiracy theories about secretive governments withholding information are commonly held. From the luminous object spotted over Tennessee College campus in 1853, to the UFO crash in Texas in 1897, to the 1942 ‘Battle of Los Angeles’ to the 2008 Stephenville Lights, there have been many famous ‘sightings’.
Though the ‘sightings’ have been many, it has been difficult for the claimants to produce evidence, which has been thin on the ground. Things that are otherwise unexplained are often attempted to be associated with alien visitations. For instance, crop circles are frequently proffered as marks of alien activity. In fact, they are even considered an attempt by extraterrestrials to send us a message.
Many ancient monuments and relics are also thought to be a result of alien activities. Some people believe that the world-famous pyramids were created by aliens, and not by the Egyptians. Another theory that goes is that the Egyptians were following some alien manual at the very least. Other structures such as the 'moai', the large stone figures on Easter Island, Teotihuacán, the ancient city of Mexico, the Neolithic site of Stonehenge on England’s Salisbury Plain – many also reckon that these are alien relics.
The fact is that the unknown beguiles us, and the possibility of extraterrestrial beings and activities even more so. Conspiracy theorists are possibly more inclined to interpret anything unusual as UFO sightings, convinced that the authorities are either deliberately withholding information or are outright lying to people. The many movies that Hollywood churns out on the subject such as ET, Close Encounters (of the nth kind) alien invasions where Americans (who else) saved the day such as Independence Day – no doubt cement this popular perception.
