They Are Thinking about a PUBG Ban – No! Said Netizens

We've all heard of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds or PUBG – either as a player who enjoys the online game or as an exasperated parent whose kids seem to play it endlessly. Now, after banning dozens of Chinese apps including TikTok, the government went on to ban 47 more apps. PUBG players were scared that they were coming after their game as well. So, it was meme time!

Going the TikTok way?

Millions miss TikTok. They fear PUBG being banned as well.

Schadenfreude

TikTok fans are feeling some amount of satisfaction that others were going to suffer as well.

More Chinese apps banned

The news of more Chinese apps being banned scared a lot of users who play PUBG or use the video making app Zili.

Noooo!

Needless to say, PUBG fans were upset at the thought of their fave game being banned.

Indian parents

If players were upset at the idea, there were many who were very happy about this possibility.

Happy!

Many Indian parents feel that their kids are addicted to PUBG. They are really, really happy.

Then there were these people

It made no difference to those who don’t play the game.

This motive?

Some were on the view that this was a ploy to clear the way for Jio Platform to launch its own equivalent of the game.

VPN

If PUBG gets banned there are many who plan to use virtual private networks to continue playing.

Free Fire players were like

They did not seem to mind that PUBG could be banned. Being the most downloaded game in 2019, Free Fire seems to have a lot of loyalists.

Political comment

There are those who believe that the government will not ban PUBG.

It will be bad!

For those who play PUBG most days if not every single day, this quite a grim prospect.

Sima Aunty meme

Mumbai's top matchmaker Sima is now a meme in her own right and found mention here as well.

Will it help?

There are those who feel that banning PUBG would be meaningless tokenism.

Why?

While there are reports of the government considering a PUBG ban, one does wonder why. If the aim is to ban Chinese apps, this doesn’t make a lot of sense. PUBG Corporation is a part of the video game holding company Krafton Game Union based in Seongnam, South Korea. So, for the PUBG ban, it is a case of to be or not to be.
