The Chinese Do the Bhangra With Indian Soldiers – Watch!

There is a joint exercise currently ongoing between the armies of India and China. The Hand in Hand joint exercise saw the Indian contingent travel to Chengdu in China for the exercise. While we saw the usual drill, we also saw something else that was unusual and altogether heartwarming:

7th Sino-Indian joint exercise

Over one hundred military personnel from the Indian are in Chengdu to take part in the joint exercise. This is meant to work on tactical operations and improve counter terror and counter insurgency responses.

A positive development

After the sabre rattling and the high decibel rhetoric at Dokhlam; thought to be the worse Indo-China standoff since the 1962 war, this has been a welcome step.

The joint exercise is significant

A joint military exercise between the militaries of two nations is meant to be a confidence building measure. It is indicative of the faith reposed in one country by another.

“Dancing to their tunes”

Here the Indian troops in the green camo print uniforms seem to be teaching some Bhangra to their Chinese (in the beige camo uniforms). The Chinese guys seem to be matching them step for step, as they took time off from the serious stuff for some lighthearted fun.

Cynicism?

“But let us not get worked up with #HindiCheeniBhaiBhai feeling” says this tweet. The Chinese are seen as self-serving by many. After the recent border hostilities, the Chinese continued with the road building that India had strongly objected to. For this reason, a lot of people view the recent bonhomie with some amount of scepticism.

Positivity

Overall, the reactions to the Indian soldiers teaching their Chinese counterparts the Bhangra have been positive and appreciative.

Remember this?

We would always wish that our soldiers can take the time off to enjoy some singing and dancing and celebrations.

The military tradition of song and dance

The famous Badluram ka Badan is the Assam Regiment regimental song. Enjoy this rendition by our soldiers.
