The Birth of a Royal Baby Boy and the Announcement of an Indo-Pak Celebrity Pregnancy

When the birth of a baby boy; the third baby of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge was announced there was much cheer and jubilation; no least on Twitter. But then Twitter had another reason to celebrate – the announcement of a South Asian Royal Baby; one who would receive the love of not one but two countries.

Announcement from Kensington Palace

At about 11 PM on 23 April, an 8 pound 7 oz baby boy was born to Kate and William. Mother and baby were doing fine said the official tweet.

Meeting the brand new brother

The newborn’s older siblings George and Charlotte arrived at the hospital to meet their little brother.

#RoyalBaby

The couple introduced their new born baby to the world just hours after the birth.

First pictures

Some of the Tweeple were blasé about the new arrival. Women give birth every day; why should this birth matter more. Others expressed the view that that the baby is beautiful, considering that new born babies are notoriously unattractive.

Surprised!

The press waiting outside the hospital got this couple mixed up with the royal couple when they came out of the main door with their little one.

Meanwhile elsewhere

They may live in a different part of the world, but this young couple is as much a cynosure of all eyes as is the British royal couple. #BabyMirzaMalik - Indian ace tennis player Sania Mirza announced the fact that she and Pak cricketer Shoaib Malik were going to be parents.

Finally!

Speculation was finally laid to rest for all those who wondered why the best known sports celebrity couple in India and Pakistan had not yet announced their ‘good news’. The south Asian royal baby is on the way!

Good wishes

The good wishes and congratulations started to pour in for the couple from both sides of the border.

Mirza Ghalib?

Filmmaker and husband of Farah Khan, Shirish Kunder congratulated the couple and proceeded to make a rather lame joke as well.

Wishing for peace

The trolls did what they do of course, but the responses were largely happy and excited for the young couple. Many tweeple expressed hope for peace between India and Pakistan in times to come; via a baby who would be loved on both sides of the border.

Cricket or tennis?

Of course everyone also wondered whether the child would be a tennis player like the mother or a cricket player like the father. Since the baby is to have the clubbed name Mirza Malik, the baby will probably play cricket with a tennis ball it was concluded.
