Is Donald Trump Crazy? And What Is Covfefe?

To say that Donald Trump is an unconventional politician is literally the understatement of the century. He is demonstrably unstable, incredibly self absorbed and narcissistic, exceedingly paranoid, has behaved appallingly, issued utterly outrageous sound bytes and horrified the entire world when he was elected POTUS. Reactions to Donald Trump have ranged from world leaders who wanted to retch to witty Trump cartoons and citizen’s protests across the USA. But is he really and actually insane? We examine this hypothesis:

Psychiatrists say he is “dangerously mentally ill”

Over 30 psychiatrists at a conference at Yale warned that the American president was ‘paranoid and delusional’ that he was not fit to be the leader of the country. These experts went public with their views /findings because they felt that it was their responsibility to warn the public.

Donald Trump lies

He does this even when his words are demonstrably false (such as when he insisted that were vast numbers of people at his inauguration when actual photos of the event said otherwise); he then gets people who work for him to back him up and substantiate his lies. Trump surrogate Kellyann Conway and press secretary Shawn Spicer have had to coin new terms such as ‘alternative facts’ to explain away his pathological lying.

He is paranoid and cannot take any criticism at all

He hates the press (most of it) and any critical coverage of him is instantly labeled ‘fake news’.  He lashes out at everyone who criticizes him, and complains about being treated unfairly, constantly offering excuses for his mistakes and/ or inaction.

He is really not bright

When he was asked a metaphorical question about the Oval office having no corners to hide in an interview, he took it literally. When he spoke about launching missiles against another country he wasn’t even sure whether he was bombing Syria or some other country. Critics feel that he is both ignorant (which can be altered) and profoundly stupid (which cannot). His inarticulacy, inability to use sophisticated language or complete a single coherant thought also points to some real metal deficit.

He gives out classified information

Not only does he simply love Vladimir Putin, he likes to boast and in the process blabs confidential info to the Russians of all people! When President Trump, met with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak at the White House, he was anxious to show off the fact that he had “great intel. I have people brief me on great intel everyday”.

He appears to have impulse control disorder

He tweets all the time. He tweets uncontrollably. He tweets in response to TV shows, world events, personal slights (imagined or otherwise) and he tweets to scold and berate. Some have gone so far as to call him a cyber-bully and his staff long to take Twitter away from him.

His own party members think he is crazy

A senior Republican leader, Michael Steel said that no one wanted to work for Trump; that “ the talent pool is shrinking, because who wants to sign up for crazy?”

He scolded the Mayor of London right after the recent attack

We all know about his ongoing feud with  the Mayor of London but after the recent London terror attacks he decided that berating and scolding the Mayor was the right thing to do.  He also used the event to harp on and defend his pet peeves; the Muslim ban and gun control.

He uses nonexistent words

His midnight tweeting is quite a problem, not least because tweets are often incoherent, incomplete, and frankly gibberish. His ‘Covfefe’ amazed people, delighted comics and convinced us all a wee bit more, that the man is quite a remarkable and uncommon breed of crazy.
