A long weekend is always a wonderful thing to look forward to, isn’t it? Not only is this a welcome reprieve from the regular grind of work, the consecutive holidays make it possible to head out for some recreation and entertainment; maybe even a few days out of town. A long weekend is just around the corner. What do you plan to do?

16 to 18 November will be a long weekend

The birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has been announced as an official public sector holiday. So Sunday will remain a holiday and work will recommence on Monday, 19th November. The holiday has been moved from 20th Tuesday to the 18th.

Dubai Miracle Garden

This garden opened for its 7th season this November and offers new themes and experiences to visitors.  The Dubai Miracle Garden holds the world record for the world's largest topiary structure. It is a 72,000 sqm space full or the most incredibly colourful and fragrant flowers; as many as 150 million flowers arranged in patterns and arches.

Fitness challenge

If you're not in the Dubai fitness challenge already, its not too late since the challenge is on till 24th. There are various fitness villages set up, two thousand free classes, community activities, carnivals and other events meant to get people up and active.

Global village market

There are 27 pavilions that represent various different regions of the world. Entry tickets are just AED15 with kids and seniors going free. You can shop for novelty items, traditional crafts, spices, fashionable apparel, and natural produce such as wild honey.

One Africa Music Festival

After last year's sold out show, the One Africa Music Festival is back this year and will be held on 16th November at the Dubai Festival City Arena. Artistes such as Wizkid, Sarkodie,  Diamond Platnumz, Tiwa Savage, Cassper Nyovest, AKOTHEE, LIJ Michael, Niniola, Awilo Longomba, Betty G, Skales, Vanessa Mdee, Zoro, Nasty C, Skales and many others will be performing.

Dubai design week

The area's largest creative festival has a six day programme from 12th to 17 November. Among the events will be the Global Grad Show which showcases some of the inventions that will shape our tomorrows from design graduates of 61 countries. The downtown design trade fair will feature 175 design brands, talks programmes, six large-scale installations, landscaped gardens, cafes and more.
