2 Indian Hotel Brands Among Top Ten – And Why Not!

Though the full potential for travel and tourism in India has not yet been utilized, India remains one of the top travel destinations in the world for the discerning traveler. It isn't just Indian history, culture, architecture and the arts that make India such an exotic and desirable travel destination, it is also Indian hotels that make this so. Indian hotels are among the best in the world. Not only does the Travel and Leisure survey on the World's Top 15 Hotel Brands bear this out, there are other reasons that make Indian hotels among the most desirable in the world.

The Travel and Leisure survey

A survey conducted by Travel and Leisure, a New York based travel magazine examined the World's Top 15 Hotel Brands. Two Indian brands featured in this list.

Leela Palace Hotels & Resorts

This Indian chain was rated tenth on the survey with score of 93.33, keeping company with other top brands of the world.

Oberio Hotels & Resorts at No. 8

At no. 8 on the list is another Indian hotel chain. Readers rated properties and brands according to their experiences. The possible reasons for these high guest ratings, are many:

Location, location, location

India’s top hotels occupy some of the most prime locations near scenic spots, shopping areas, business districts, airports and so on, making it easy for travelers to get to where they want to go and providing stunning views as well. Some of these hotels have become iconic landmarks over time; the Taj Mahal hotel at Mumbai’s famed Gateway of India being a case in point.

The cuisine

While conforming to internationally expected standards, Indian hotels are able to offer a stunning array of local cuisine to captivate the international traveler. Restaurants such as Bukhara at the Maurya in Delhi are a case in point: a world famous eatery that lets the visitor sample the best of Indian cuisine.

The décor

The décor in top Indian hotels will range from the lavish traditional to the contemporary minimalist to everything in between. Sumptuously done up rooms and lobbies featuring valuable original art – the lobby of the Lalit in Delhi being an example – is something else that awes visitors.

The facilities

India hotels manage to offer spacious rooms and some top notch in room facilities that cater to the most astute international traveler. Relaxation and beauty treatments, traditional massage, therapeutic healing facilities are all on offer. The popularity of Ananda Spa in the heart of the Himalayas points to this.

The hospitality

The warmth of the welcome, the generosity of spirit and the people’s willingness to go the extra mile to make guests stays memorable and comfortable is to be found in top Indian hotels. The unique Indian forms of welcome, the well spoken and knowledgeable staff all combine to create lasting impressions on guests.

Affordability

This would have to be the clinching factor: global travelers often find that the luxury, the facilities, room size and attentive service offered by Indian five star hotels offer excellent value for money; arguably better than most other places in the world!  Elsewhere, five star facilities would be out of reach; in India they are within reach!
