Anushka-Virat – Spare Us the Schmaltzy PDA Please

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli are currently the most Awww-inducingly adorable couple on the celebrity firmament. Not only are they both really good at what they do, they are apparently terrific at being in love – with each other! Pictures of their perfectness are everywhere! I don’t know about you, but I seem to have had enough of the beautiful wedding, the cold-but-hot honeymoon, and the assorted other adorbs (I am informed this is acceptable modern usage) and camera moments they choose to share with us. I am not against PDA, mind you; it’s just…

So much happiness? So much love?

इतनी ज़्यादा ख़ुशी, इतना प्यार? The power couple also has their own conjoined diminutive #Virushka! Gag, gag, gag!

Yes, you're very happy

We get that! What really is the need to rub our faces in your lovely wedding, at its pristine location with your perfectly styled wedding outfits and mile-wide smiles?

We’ve already seen this!

That ad where you engage in easy banter which then peters out into some soulful eye gazing and serious promise making? We were only just recovering from that sob-worthy slice of true love!

Do you know how long some of us have been married?

Years! Let’s just leave it at that! Your brand new marriage, the lovely cosy honeymoon and all that canoodling for the camera… clearly, you're just trying to make us all jealous!

You’re a gorgeous couple!

We get that! You're young and good-looking, have great stylists and vacation at the most stunning locations. You even look good in your selfies! Is this fair on all of us non-photogenic people? Cease and desist!

Kissing the bat? Really?

We could say Awww hands clasped in delight! Or we could say Ugh, too much cheesiness

This too?

Kissing bat? Ho hum! He now has a wedding ring to kiss! Are you thinking Adorbs! I’m thinking थोड़ा ज़्यादा नहीं हो गया भाईसाहब?

Her too!

Just in case we were under any misconceptions that she reciprocates in kind, this is the sort of thing we are subjected too!

“Every day is Valentine’s Day”

Really? This is not gag-worthy? And this isn’t even the much-married me taking a jaundiced view of all the froth and light and romance and happiness. That is just way cheesy!

Just you wait!

We will all just check in with the oh-so-ecstatic couple in a few years. All that ardour should have cooled by then. Nothing like a bit of propinquity to knock the stars out of your eyes! Let’s see if you're indulging the same kind of schmaltzy PDA in ten years. Some of us are lucky; let’s see if you are!
