J.K.Rowling totally got, the video-gaming generation, back in the reading zone, with the world of Hogwarts, and characters that would stay with us for life. Post movies and books, many of us Potterheads tried to find solace in similar series of the genre, but to no avail. But fret not, we tried many fantasy series’, and came up with few, that would quench the Potterhead inside you, and maybe make you a die-hard fan of another series as well.

Get ready to enter the magical world of Harry Potter once more, with these ten books. Say it with me…Alohomora!

The Library Set from Hogwarts by, of course, J. K. Rowling

The first choice if you have just finished reading (or in our case, re-reading), The Potter Saga. It consists of three books; Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them (Which by the way is going to be a movie trilogy, the first one to be released this year in November), Quidditch Through The Ages, and Tales of Beedle The Bard, which has snippets and notes by Professor Dumbledore himself!

Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud

The wonders of the djinni and his 12-year-old master might be for young adults, but the wit of the protagonist, its antics, and the perfect satirical vocabulary makes this series a must read, if you loved the world of Hogwarts.

A Song of Ice & Fire by George R. R. Martin

Fantasy, but with its fair share of dirty politics and allegiances, that make this series a must read, if you can bear with the long gaps between the release of two successive books. Many are already a fan of the HBO series which has adapted its fair share from the books, but trust us, the read word is a class apart.

Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan

Again a series for the young adults, with eerie similarities from the Potter world. However, you should definitely give this a go if you want to delve into a totally alternate scenario of Demi Gods and their universe, which might exist amongst us, without us being aware.

Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan

Imagine there is bookstore, which extends way beyond the walls of what it stands for! That is what happens, when a Clay Jannon is ousted from his job due to recession, and he takes a part time job at Mr. Penumbra’s 24-hour Bookstore. What astounds him is the fact that there are only a few repetitive customers who keep digging in the strange corners of the shop, courtesy some long standing arrangement with the owner. Is the shop a masquerade, covering something bigger?

Ajax Penumbra: 1969 by Robin Sloan

If you love the aforesaid book, do check out the prequel about Ajax Penumbra, and how he stumbles across the bookstore, to find an open plethora of possibilities laid before him. This is a wonderful prequel, but read it only after you have read the original book, or you would lose on the mystery factor.

The Queen of The Tearling Trilogy by Erika Johansen

First things first; the main protagonist is a female. Secondly, Emma Watson is going to play the lead in the movie adaptation. Reasons enough to grab your copies? Yes, indeed. This trilogy is about a princess who has to defeat a sorceress, in order to claim her throne.
