The Invisible Man Trailer Is Riveting – Also Terrifying

The trailer of the upcoming psychological horror film Invisible Man released recently. It promises to be a gripping, riveting movie – but it is also quite, quite terrifying. It isn’t just because of the story itself but also because of the gaslighting theme that the movie touches on.

The Invisible Man – Official Trailer

The concept is the same as that of the original novel by H G Wells, but this movie seems to have come a long way since then. Elisabeth Moss, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Aldis Hodge, Storm Reid and Harriet Dyer star in the film that will release on 28 February 2020.

Very different Invisible Man

The first invisible man movie was made in 1933; which in turn based on the 1897 story by H G Wells.

Later versions

Each successive version of the film has become darker and eerier.

Wow!

Viewers loved the trailer. It is fascinating, compelling and quite hair-raising.

This criticism

This is a "trailer is the entire movie" type of trailer, feels this commentator; we know pretty much what is going to happen in the movie, thanks to the trailer.

Not really

Those are not spoilers, feel others.

Still looking forward to it

The movie seems very promising feel the tweeple.

What you can’t see can’t hurt you

The film paradoxically turns this idiom on its head – because clearly here, what you cannot see can very much hurt you. The film is very dark; the allusion here to the dark mode that social media is so obsessed with currently.

Brutal & unnerving

As this tweet says, the Invisible Man trailer promises a movie that is both brutal and unnerving.

This observation

Some felt that movies of this type satisfy the voyeuristic instincts of some; some even darker and more malevolent instincts.

Relevant for our times

The movie also tackles a theme that is very relevant for our times – gaslighting (the manipulation of someone by psychological means into doubting their own sanity) – as this tweet points out.

Looking forward

The Invisible Man trailer is thrilling and scary and startling – people are really looking forward to the movie release in February 2020.
