In the narcissistic world of social media where users are looking for any excuse to show themselves off in a positive light and garner self-affirmation, there is no surprise that the #10YearChallenge has become as wildly successful as it is. It isn’t anything particularly new or original; also it isn’t much of a ‘challenge’, but people love it. While some have darkly warned against it being an insidious tool for surreptitious data collection and invasion of privacy, most have happily jumped on the bandwagon:
Ellen DeGeneres was smiling widely then, she is smiling now; with roughly the same cuteness quotient. She inspired many.
Many celebs were happy to post their photos from long ago along with their recent photos… perhaps because it would be extremely gratifying to see and show that age has treated one very kindly.
When fans gushingly tell celebs that they haven’t aged a bit… or that they’ve actually got better with age, this would obviously be music to the ears.
That is Aquaman Jason Momoa the famous Dothraki warlord of GOT fame. All that flowing hair, the rakish eye brow scar… Now there’s living proof that things get better with age!
International TV personality Padma Lakshmi posted these images and said this “1999/2019.... not quite the #10yearchallenge. More like the #20yearchallenge!” Now if that isn’t boasting I don’t know that is!
You know, because one's own child is the most beautiful of things for a parent – ten years ago, now or ten years later!

Ten years ago fewer people were on social media, they were less image conscious, took few or no selfies and were certainly less worried about ‘sharing’ their wonderful life with the world.
Ten years ago, the impacts of climate change were far less noticeable than they are today. now, with a visibly shrinking arctic ice cap, bleached corals, severe climatic events and higher temperatures noted all over the world, climate change is far more difficult to deny.
For some its creaky knees, others don reading glasses, yet others seem to need handfuls of pills to battle various ailments. Age is inexorable, it would seem.
In the past ten years, civil wars have destroyed countries, displaced populations and wreaked havoc of untold proportions. So lots of people joined in the #10YearChallenge for various reasons; it was a case of different strokes for different folks.
