In the UAE Over the New Year? Here’s What You Can Do

The New Year is a time for New Year resolutions and new beginnings. It is also a time for partying, having some fun and letting your hair down. And where better to do this than the UAE with the party hotspots in Dubai and elsewhere just beckoning to you! If you're in the neighbourhood for the New Year, here are some options for you:

The JA Bateaux Dubai Sunset Cruise

A popular choice for parties, special celebrations, product launches and other events, you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner aboard this cruiser or enjoy the sunset sightseeing cruise.

Enjoy a desert safari

This is a great option if you want to ditch the party scene and head on out with the family for a night under the stars, Bedouin style. There are delicious eats, bonfires, fireworks and live entertainment on offer.

Head to Hatta

The stunning location of this little hill getaway maybe just the thing for those looking for a short break. In Hatta, there are mountain trails and rock pools to explore. The Hatta dam and the fort are some more attractions.

The fireworks

In Dubai, there are several locations where you can enjoy thrilling fireworks. Choose from the Burj Khalifa, the Burj Al Arab and the Palm Jumeirah which will be lit up with fireworks. While you can grab a good vantage point early, you can also buy tickets for the best views of the crackers. Abu Dhabi will attempt a world record in fireworks. There will be a 10-minute show at the Corniche which will spell out 'Happy New Year 2019' in colourful 40 metre high letters.

Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival

This New Year eve, the festival will feature performances by Eida Al Menhali and Fouad Abdel Wahid, a fireworks show as well as a three-dimensional water and light shows with dazzling lasers.

Dubai opera

If one is inclined to splurge, one can head to the Dubai Opera for a ringside view of the fireworks, live music and DJ. There is also a gala dinner at the Atlantis, dine at the Palm, or chill out at the Anantara beach party.

La Perle aqua theatre

You can enjoy a dinner package along with the show crafted by Cirque du Soleil genius Franco Dragone at Al Habtoor City.

Fine dining options

You could head to the 24th floor of the Dusit Thani Dubai for the Street Carnival Dinner Party or for a five-course dinner at Tribeca Restaurant in Dubai Marina. Abu Dhabi's Shangri-La Hotel at Qaryat Al Beri, also has a New Year buffet with cuisines from around the world.

And to enjoy New Year Eve responsibly, it may be a good idea to leave your car at home and take the metro which will have extended operating hours for the occasion. If not, you can enjoy free public parking in Dubai on 1st January and reduced parking charges on Wednesday
