The year 2015 was quite eventful for Bollywood. While some parts of the audience were appalled by the success of PremRatanDhanPayo, Dilwale, and the likes (though everyone still loves SRK and Salman!), we were given one gem of a movie as the year departed; Tamasha. The dream venture of Imtiaz Ali was the story of each one of us, and while people might have had varied reviews on the concept, we simply loved the movie, which connected with our souls. Let us take a look at moments and times when Tamasha touched our hearts and showed us our own reflection, that of a free spirit trapped within the body of a robot. Here are the life lessons we found in Tamasha.

We are all Ved

Getting up in the morning, doing our chores, completing our work hours, getting back, eating food, setting up the alarm for tomorrow. Sometimes we even forget to dream.

We all have Don in us as well

For those few enchanting moments, when the mask slips away, and we are able to be truly, immensely happy, doing and being what our heart says we should be.

Tara comes once in your life, don’t let her go

A lover and a friend, our soulmate is the only one who can see through us and show us the reflection of who we are. We all hope and dream to find them, and once we do we must never let them go.

Don’t run in the race to be average

We all want to leave it to run in your own race, to be the best. And yet we all continue to do what we do, and deal with the drudgery.

Don’t be what society expects you to be

Oh how we wish we could tell society to simply go to hell, to force them to accept us as a standard in ourselves. How many times we come close, but then step back from that all important moment.

True Love brings out the best in you

And stands by you in all times, through thick or thin. Now this is something we believe very strongly.

You are your own creator

It would be nice if we could be escapist and wait for the storyteller to complete our story. But we write our own tales, and only we can give it a certain direction.

Travel alone, once

Some people cannot imagine doing that, but it will give you perspective, and make you introspect, on the direction your life is taking, and what direction you want it to take.

Last, but not the least..Parents

Only they matter in the larger scheme of things, because they are the ones who give up huge parts of their lives for you. That doesn’t mean that you should suppress your dreams for them. The mind can heal itself, it does not need care, but dreams can only be cherished by heart, which when bruised, takes a long time to heal. So talk to your parents and tell them the truth.
