The good old pencil. Not only was it one of our closest and most reliable friends during our childhood days, but it also played a significant role in our education. I mean just think about it, how many pencils have we broken, chewed on and lost during our school days? But if you shift your view a little bit there are some serious life lessons to be learned from this humble pencil.

1. Everybody makes mistakes, while you will want to erase them, the marks will remain so learn from your mistakes

We all make mistakes

We all make mistakes

We all make mistakes in life. But just like we would use a pencil to erase and fix our writing mistakes, we can also identify and correct real life mistakes as well.

2. While a firm grip on life is good, too much pressure can break you:

Putting too much pressure is not good

Putting too much pressure is not good

Do you remember how annoying it was when, if you’d put too much pressure on your pencil while writing with it, its tip would break off? Life is exactly like that as well, as putting too much pressure on yourself will always cause you more harm than good.

3. You’ll require polishing and sharpening as well:

Just like how a pencil needs to be sharpened before you can properly use it, you too will need to polish and sharpen your skills to become the best version of yourself.

4. Appearances can be deceiving:

Don't judge a book by its cover

Don’t judge a book by its cover

What a pencil appears to be from the outside is completely different from how it is on the inside. Just like that, one should never judge someone else on their looks as looks can be deceiving.

5. Every kind of pencil has a purpose

Diversity at its best

Diversity at its best

There are a variety of pencils and each has a purpose. Similarly there are many different kinds of people on this planet and each type of person in your life has a purpose.
