If like much of India, you are a Raj Kumar Hirani fan and loved all his films such as the Munna Bhai series, PK and 3 Idiots, then here is some good news for you: there is to be a 3 Idiots sequel. He has been the director, editor and writer of some of the most beloved Bollywood films ever and there is one more in the offing.

3 Idiots Sequel

Theyre Coming Back

They’re Coming Back

3 idiots came out in December 2009 and probably remains one of Bollywood’s most beloved comedies ever. Rancho (Aamir Khan), Farhan (R Madhavan) and Raju (Sharman Joshi) remain some of Indian cinema’s most memorable characters and we are now promised a return of these characters. Reportedly Hirani and screenwriter Abhijat Joshi have already started working on the sequel. They have cracked the idea but the film is at the initial research stages and the project will take some time to fructify.

This was confirmed by Aamir Khan in a recent address to the media. Khan informed press persons that he was told by Raju Hirani about a sequel to the movie in the offing. One wonders if this means that we shall see a return of Khan as Rancho as well? Currently the superstar is working on losing the weight he gained for his film Dangal. He needs to lose the 25 kg he gained to play the part of a wrestler. In June, he will be shooting for the younger version of his character.

And meanwhile… Saala Khadoos

Va Va Voooom

Va Va Voooom

For those who don’t want to wait until Raj Kumar Hirani has penned, directed and edited the 3 Idiots sequel, there is Saala Khadoos on offer right now, which is produced by Hirani. The Tamil/Hindi film stars another Raj Kumar Hirani favourite, R. Madhavan who has delivered his career best performance, say reviews of the film. It’s a sport related film about the journey of an underdog to a champion. The story is that of a bad tempered character who decides to train an aggressive spitfire of a girl for the boxing ring. In India, where any sport other than cricket receives scant attention and women’s sport even less, this should be a film to watch out for as we await the return of the three idiots.
